GoSL prepares to celebrate capture of Kudumpimalai

[TamilNet, Saturday, 14 July 2007, 01:34 GMT]
The Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) is making preparations to celebrate the capture of Kudumpimalai region in the east, media reports from Colombo said. The Ministry of Education is reported to be joining the celebration by directing the schools in selected regions in Sri Lanka to hoist the Sri Lankan flag. A circular signed by an anonymous Officer in Colombo Education Zone was sent to Sinhala schools on Friday with procedures to be adopted during the event.

In a 19 point circular, the principals of the Sinhala schools were instructed to celebrate the event giving it higher importance than the celebration of the capture of Jaffna in 1995.

The circular added that the speech should emphasize that the capture of Kudumpimalai was more important as the region had been in the hands of the Liberation Tigers when the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) was signed.

The circular did not specify the date for the event.
