SLN attacks fishermen in the seas off A'lampil, 2 wounded

Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) gunboats fired at a fishing vessel Saturday night and seriously wounded a 22-year-old fisherman and his brother in the seas off Chemmalai, 2 km east of A'lampil in Mullaiththeevu district. Both the brothers are admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mullaiththeevu District hospital, medical sources said.

Thanapalasingham Suman, 22 and his elder brother Thanapalasingham Manoharan, 27, father of two, were wounded when SLN Dvora gunboats fired at their fishing boat Saturday night around 10:00, 1.5 nautical miles away from Chemmalai coast.

During the past days, the SLN gunboats have been attacking the fishing boats that left the dock early in the morniings for fishing. Therefore, the two brothers wanted to fish during the night and left for fishing before midnight.
