Two civilians shot dead in Vavuniya[TamilNet, Tuesday, 07 August 2007, 13:25 GMT]The body of an unidentified man, estimated to be 35-years old, with several gunshot wounds to his body was found at 1:45 p.m. near Pa'ndaarikku'lam area, Vavuniyaa Police said. Less than 30 minutes later Police said another body has been found near the Ukku'langku'lam Road, nearly 1 km from the site of the previous killing. In the Pa'ndaarikku'lam incident, a note signed by a group called "Vanniyan Padai' said that the victim has been harassing the residents in Vavuniyaa and was involved in extortion. Vavuniyaa Police after conducting preliminary investigations, transferred the man's body to Vavuniyaa General Hospital. An unattended car believed to be the vehicle driven by the second victim was found near his body in Ukku'langku'lam. Civil sources said that a Sri Lanka Police camp is located in Pa'ndaarikku'lam Muniyappar Temple area close to the site of the two killings.
