Accident in Jaffna injures 2 SLA troops

[TamilNet, Monday, 10 September 2007, 16:40 GMT]
A heavy truck and jeep of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) collided at high speed Monday morning at Veambadi Junction in Jaffna, causing serious injuries to two SLA troops inside.

The injured troops were first rushed to Jaffna Teaching Hospital, then transferred to Palaali Military hospital for further treatment.

SLA, having closed major roads in the Jaffna peninsula due to fear of a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) attack, are forced to navigate using minor roads, frequently traveling at high speed, causing accidents such as this.
