2 SLA troops injured in artillery duel in Thenmaraadchi

Two Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers sustained serious injuries when the SLA and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) exchanged heavy artillery and Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) fire Friday early morning, the SLA in Jaffna said.

Both sides also exchanged gunfire during the artillery duel which lasted for more than an hour.

Artillery exchanges between the two warring parties have increased recently in the Northern FDL positions along Naakarkoayil, Muhamaalai, Kearatheevu, Poonakari and Ki'laali.

Early morning exchange of heavy fire takes place almost daily in Muhamalai FDL positions, sources in Jaffna said.
