2 families with children seek protection with HRC Jaffna

Two families from Thenmaraadchi with three children aged under fifteen sought protection with Human Rights Commission (HRC) Monday due to death threats from Sri Lanka Army (SLA) backed armed paramilitary men and SLA troops, according to statements given by the two families to HRC.

One family with two children and the other with one child, from Thaava'lai, Va'ra'ni, Yaththalai and Meesaalai areas in Thenmaraadchi are the civilians who sought protection with the HRC, Monday.

There is a rising trend in civilian deaths and abductions in the Thenmaraadchi area caused by the SLA and SLA-backed paramilitary, civil society sources in Thenmaraadchi said.
