3 killed in separate incidents in Jaffna

A Jaffna Technical College student who was abducted Friday afternoon by unknown armed men in a white van near Nalloor Chettiththeru area in Jaffna was found shot to death in an open field between Maruthanaamadam and Urumpiraay Saturday morning, sources in Jaffna said. Meanwhile, two other bodies were recovered in Chunnaaakam and Point-Pedro Saturday morning.

Balasubramaniam Janaatharan, 23, was riding his motorbike in Chettiththeru area when he was forcefully taken away by armed men yesterday.

Jaffna Police has transferred his body with several gunshot wounds to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for postmortem examinations.

Meanwhile, Thellipa'lai Police recovered the body of a man estimated to be around 35 years with severe cut wounds in Kantharoadai in Chunnaakam, Valikaamam. The victim has not been identified until Saturday afternoon.

Body of another youth was recovered by Point Pedro police in Nellandai, Point Pedro Friday afternoon. The body has been transferred to the Manthikai General Hospital. The body is waiting identification at the hospital, according to hospital sources.
