Paramilitary person shot dead in Ea'raavoor

Unidentified armed men shot dead a paramilitary person of Karuna (TMVP) group Monday around 10:00 p.m at Jeevapuram area in Ea'raavoor in Batticaloa district, Ea'raavoor police said.

The victim was identified as Kanthasamy Thevarajah, 20.

Thevarajah was an employee of World Vision (NGO) and had left it to join Kaurna group. He was shot dead at close range when he was on his way to his relative's house after dinner.

His body was recovered Tuesday around 10:30 a.m by the police and handed over to Chengkaladi hospital.

Family members of the victim were given the body after inquest into the killing was held.

Jeevapuram is in Mu'rakkoddaancheanai which is located 21 km north of Batticaloa city.
