Paramilitary member shot dead in Naavatkudaa

Two unidentified armed men riding a motorbike shot dead a paramilitary member of Karuna group with a pistol Monday night around 7: 35 p.m. at Navatkudah in Kaaththaankudi police division in Batticaloa district, civil sources said.

The victim was identified as Vettivel Suthakar, 38, a staff of Naavatkudaa Karuna office.

He was shot dead by the armed men when the victim was on night watch at a location 50 metres from the office.

The seriously injured victim was admitted to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital where he succumbed to injuries Tuesday morning.

Karuna group office in Naavatkudaa is located between Kalladi Bridge, Batticaloa and Kaaththaankudi police station, 200 metres north of the police station

Naavatkudaa is located 7 km south of Batticaloa.
