[TamilNet, Wednesday, 25 November 1998, 11:51 GMT]
Tamil Eelam Vaanoli (radio), the commercial service of the Voice of Tigers (VoT), will commence a Sinhala transmission from today, November 25, the radio said. The Transmission will have a news broadcast at 6.30 am and 6.30 p.m., and will be followed by other special programs, the radio added.

The Voice of Tigers the official radio of the Liberation Tigers and the Tamil Eelam Vanoli are currently transmitted in Tamil in the Vanni region.

Ex-militant sources in Colombo said the Tigers have recently began their propaganda effort towards the Sinhala people in the south of the island, and referred to the distribution of the video footage, of the LTTE's recent attack on the Sri Lankan Army at Kilinochchi, in Colombo.

They also said the new Sinhala transmission is expected to transmit programs targeting the Sri Lankan Army in the Vanni, mainly soldiers involved in the Operation Jeyasikurui, which is in its 18 month.

Meanwhile all transport between the areas controlled by the Liberation Tigers and the rest of the island, through the Uylankulam Sri Lankan Army check post on the Mannar Vavuniya road, will be closed until further notice, the Tigers announced in the Vanni.

Sources in Vanni said the announcement has been made in view of the 'Maveerar Day' (Heroes' Day) celebrations on November 27.

The Tigers said people are preparing to mark the 'Maveerar Day' in areas controlled by them. They said villages have been decorated and posters have also been put up there.

The day will be marked in the Batticaloa district with hoisting of flag at Karidiyan Aaru which will be followed by several other arrangements. Special function will also be held at Puthikkudiyeruppu they said further.
