5 corpses of youths found in Vavuniyaa

Vavuniya police found five corpses of youths with gun shot wounds lying at Thavasiku'lam in Vavuniyaa Sunday morning and residents of the area told the police that the five youths were brought in a van to Thavasiku'lam Saturday around 10:00 p.m following which rapid gunfire was heard.

Four of the five victims were identified as Vigneswaran Keerthipan, 17, Vijayakumar Vijayathas, 19, Thirunavukarasu Kapilthev, 24, and James Layintan Noah, 22.

The identified victims are from Veappangku'lam, and Koo'laangku'lam in Vavuniyaa and three of these are from one family, the relatives who identified the bodies said.

One of the bodies remains unidentified.

Some of the bodies had their eyes bound and all the bodies were riddled with bullets, Vavuniyaa police said.

The police are continuing to investigate into the killings.
