SLA gunfire injures woman in Jaffna

A woman pedestrian was seriously injured when Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers opened indiscriminate fire from their sentry point in Kalviangakkaadu in Jaffna district after an unidentified person lobbed a hand grenade into the sentry Sunday around 9:30 a.m, sources in Jaffna said.

The injured woman, S. Suganthi, 35, was rushed to Jaffna Teaching hospital where she is admitted to the intensive care unit.

The said SLA sentry point is located along Jaffna-Point Pedro road near Kalviyangkkaadu public market.
