3 civilians seek protection at Jaffna HRC

Three civilians from Valigaamam and Thenmaraadchi districts in Jaffna surrendered at the Jaffna Human Rights Commission (HRC) offices Monday seeking safety against threat to their lives from Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and SLA-backed paramilitaries, sources in Jaffna said.

The surrendered civilians were identified as a 25-year old businessman from Anandavadali Road in Columbuththurai, Jaffna, 47-year old farmer and father of six children from Meesaalai in Thenmaraadchi, and a 41-year old toddy-tapper and a father of four from Dutch Road in Chaavakachcheari, Thenmaraadchi, said S. Sivaraajasingham, an official at the HRC Jaffna.
