Family man seeks protection with HRC Jaffna

A family man from Navaali in Valikaamam sought protection with Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna office Thursday as he was continuously threatened to death by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops and SLA-backed paramilitary men. The man was placed in the protective custody of Jaffna Prison. The number of civilians seeking protection with HRC is on the increase at an alarming rate.
The family man from Navaali is 48-year-old and a painter by profession. Meanwhile, another family man with his wife and three children came to (HRC) Jaffna office Wednesday and sought protection due to death threats by SLA troops and SLA-backed paramilitary armed men. The man was placed in the protective custody of Jaffna prison while his family returned home in Chaavakachcheari. The man who sought protection with HRC Wednesday is the owner of a saloon at Madduvil junction in Chaavakachcheari in Thenmaradchchi. On New Year day, a fisherman from Kozhumpuththu’rai in Jaffna sought protection with HRC.
