SLA, police intensifiy search, checking in Jaffna town

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops and police carried out meticulous checking on passengers and vehicles at the entry points on all roads leading into Jaffna town Monday following the bomb blast Sunday noon in Jaffna town area, killing two youths and injuring two SLA troops, sources in Jaffna said.

SLA and police also conducted random checks at different points along the roads to Jaffna town besides the inspection and interrogation carried out at the entry points.

All vehicles and pedestrians were stopped and thorough checks were made scrutinizing National Indentity Cards and the documents of the vehicles.

The public had to wait for many hours on the roads due to the increased checking.
