SLAF bombs Ki'linochchi suburb, 1 killed, 7 wounded

Liberation Tigers anti-aircraft guns fired at Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) warplanes that bombed a civilian area with a mechanic workshop near Kanakapuram Maha Viththiyaalayam school at Kanakapuram, a suburb of Ki'linochchi town, Thursday morning. A 32-years-old man who sought safety inside a bunker was wounded and succumbed to his injuries. Seven civilians were wounded in the SLAF attack. Nine houses were damaged in the bombardment that was launched at 9:30 a.m. and carried out four times.
Murugiah Loggeswaran, 32, displaced from Jaffna and settled in Redd Barna settlement in Visuvamadu, was identified as the victim who was killed in the air attack. Six wounded civilians, rushed to Ki'linochchi hospital were identified as Sivarasa Suren, 19, from Kanakapuram, Periyan Subesh, 27, from Paranthan 2nd street, Sinnaththurai Sivarasa, 44, from Kanakapuram, Suppar Sinniah, 82, and a mother and her daughter, Thanapalasingham Mahaluxmy, 49, and Thanapalasingham Shaaranya, 16, a student of Kanakarapuram Maha Viththiyalayam. The father of Shaarany, Mr. Thanpalasingham, has been missing since 1995 when he was arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy in Ki'laali waters, residents told TamilNet. Another civilian sustained minor injuries in the bombardment.
