3 seek protection with HRC Jaffna, youth reported abducted in Kaithadi

Three family men sought protection with Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna Thursday due to death threats by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops and SLA-backed paramilitaries. Meanwhile, two unidentified armed men abducted a young man from his house in Meesaalay in Thenmaraadchchi, his wife complained to HRC Jaffna Thursday.
A family man from Kaithadi, Naavatku’li, 35, the father of 3 children, a 54-year-old father of 6 children, and a family man, 26, an insurance company officier from Maasiyapiddy, Cha’ndilipaay, were the three who sought HRC protection Thursday. The wife of a the abducted young man said that two unidentified armed men on a motorcycle arrived at their house in Meesaalay west, Chaavakachcheari, Wednesday night and forcibly took her husband away at gun point. SLA troops had conducted an extensive cordon and search in the area some hours before her husband was abducted, she added.
