Body of missing police constable recovered in Tellippalai

The body of a police constable attached to Jaffna police station and went missing two weeks ago was recovered Friday in a desolate area, 500 metres from his residence in Tellippalai, with severe head injuries, sources in Jaffna said.
The victim, identified as Jeyasiri Pusphakumara, 36, from Kurunagala, was working in Jaffna since 1996 when the peninsula was captured by Sri Lanka Army (SLA). Pushpakumara was married to a Tamil woman from Tellippalai and was a father of 4-children. He was subjected to disciplinary action several times by higher authorities in the police force for marrying a Tamil and has also been detained in police custody, according to informed sources. Meanwhile, Sarojini Ilangovan ,Mallakam district magistrate has ordered Tellippalai police to arrange for post mortem examination to determine whether was victim committed suicide or was beaten to death and then hanged.
