Two Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were killed in Mukamaalai Sunday morning between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. when Tigers counter-attacked an SLA unit that attempted to breach the LTTE Forward Defence Line. One Tiger fighter was killed in action, according to Mukamaalai Operations Command of the Tigers.
Severely disintegrated bodies of the two SLA troopers were still lying in the no-man zone, LTTE Commander of the Mukmaalai operations command told reporters who met him Sunday evening. Another clash was also reported at Naakarkoayil FDL earlier in the day. The fighting erupted at 5:30 a.m. The SLA pulled back from the no-man zone after 20 minutes. In the meantime, the SLA launched an artillery barrage on LTTE FDL in Ki'laali between 11:00 and 12:30 p.m.
