6 Tamils arrested in Passara, Kandy

Six Tamil civilians including three women, arrested on Saturday evening at Kandy, are still being detained in Kandy police station and are being interrogated to find out the reason for their visit to Kandy, police sources said.
Two M.S.Sutharsan of Chavakachcheri of Jaffna district and Kalimuthu Kathiresan of Kannankudha of Batticaloa district were arrested while staying near the Kandy bus stand. Three Tamil women, all residents of Mirusuvil were taken into custody while walking along a road in Kandy town accompanied
by a Muslim youth who is from Trincomalee, sources said. Police said all of them have been detained as they failed to provide satisfactory reasons for their visit to Kandy and the stay in location. Meanwhile, another Tamil youth,a resident of Kalmunai was arrested by the Police in Passara on Sunday in cordon and search operation conducted at Gamewela estate. The youth is said to have arrived in Passara to see his relative. He is also being detained in Passaara police station and is being interrogated, sources said.
