The Eelanatham, the only Tamil daily published in the LTTE controlled Vanni region said today that a youth who went to see the house and garden of his family in Konthakkaran Kulam two kilometers west of Omanthai on Thursday Nov. 6 has been reported missing since then.
The youth is Ponnambalam Yogathaas, 23, orginally an inhabitant of Kunchikkulam in the district of Mannar. He belongs to one of the families which were displaced from Kunchikkulam - an old Tamil catholic village that lies deep in the jungles south of the road between Mannar and Murunkan. Sources said that stragglers in areas which lie in the vicinity of the Sri Lankan army's forward defence positions, if detected, invariably have their throats slit by the platoon sized patrols of the SLA that roam under cover beyond the FDLs. Many similar cases, including that of a catholic priest, have been reported in the areas ahead of the SLA's base in Kilinochchi.
