Garment factory to employ disabled soldiers

Sri Lankan Deputy Minister of Defence Gen.Anurudha Ratwatte ceremonially opened today a large scale, modern garment factory called 'Ranaviru Apparels', at Yakkala, for the benefit of the disabled soldiers.
Six hundred and sixty disabled soldiers will be employed in this factory which is expected to produce 27,000 army uniforms monthly and a net income of Rs 1.3 million. The soldiers are provided with accommodation, and health and sports facilities. The factory will be managed by a board comprising army officers. Speaking at ceremony, Ratwatte said that the disabled soldiers will again serve the country by producing the necessary uniforms required by the soldiers in the battle fronts. Minister of Industries C.V.Gooneratne and the army commander Lt.Gen.Rohan Daluwatte were also present at the opening ceremony.
