17 civilians wounded in grenade explosion in Vavuniyaa

Seventeen civilians were wounded in a hand grenade explosion on Bazar Street in Vavuniyaa around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Three of the victims were children and 6 females, medical sources said.

Civilian sources said the exact cause behind the explosion was unclear. The police alleged that the grenade was lobbed by attackers who targeted a Special Task Force (STF) vehicle, but the grenade missed the target and exploded on the road.
