Unidentified armed men in a white van forcibly abducted Thursday the 19-year-old son of the couple who were abducted 14 May during curfew hours from their house in Karaveddi West in Vadamaraadchi following the large scale cordon and search operation conducted in Vadamaraadchi by Sri Lanka Army (SLA), according to the complaint made Monday by the relatives of the abductees to Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna office.
Selvarasa Levin, 19, was abducted from his home. No information is available of the couple abducted a week ago. Levin’s parents, Sellaiah Selvarasa, 46, and his wife Selvarasa Nirmalathevi, 43, were first abducted on 1 May and were released on 7 May. They were again abducted 14 May by unidentified armed men in a vehicle around 4:00 a.m during curfew hours, and are missing. Three more civilians in Vadamraadchi were abducted during the week in which the couple was abducted. The abductions have shocked Vadamaraadchi residents who allege that the SLA search operations have a direct link in these abductions.
