Fishing ban in Trinco harbor due to LTTE infiltration-Minister

Minister of Fisheries Neomal Fernando Tuesday said that the ban on fishing in Trincomalee Harbour area has been imposed on confirmed reports that LTTE cadres had infiltrated. This has come to light with the sinking of a vessel belonged to the Sri Lanka Navy on May 10, according to reports from Colombo.
Fishing in Trincomalee Harbor area would be allowed once the government security establishment gives clearance that there is no LTTE activity in the area, according to reports carried by an electronic media quoting Minister Neomal Fernando Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rehabilitation Minister Rishard Badiudin has requested Minister Neomal Fernando to relax the fishing ban the ban has badly affected the livelihood of fisher folk in Moothoor and coastal suburbs, reports added.
