Sixth civilian dies in shelling after LTTE raid

The husband of the woman and the father of two sons killed in Thursday early morning shelling launched on the coastal villages of Jaffna, succumbed to his wounds in Jaffna Teaching Hospital Thursday afternoon. The number of casualties in the shelling has risen to six with his death.
The victim, identified as Robert Petticen, 36, was admitted to Jaffna Teaching hospital in a critical condition after a shell fell on his house and exploded. His wife Anatanita, 40, and her sons, Nirojan, 14 and Rohan, 11 were killed on the spot when the shell hit their house in Chuvaamiyaar Veethi in Kozhumpuththu’rai. Another, nine-year-old son of the same family, seriously injured in the shelling, admitted to Jaffna Teaching Hospital, along with his father, is still in critical condition and undergoing treatment.
