Mechanic abducted in Kalmunai

Five unidentified men in a van abducted a motor mechanic from his repair garage in Maruthamunai, Periya Neelaava’nai in Kalmunai police division in Ampaa’rai district, Thursday around 5:30 p.m, according to the complaint made by the victim's wife to Kalmunai police, sources in Batticaloa said.

The victim was identified as Selvakumar Uthayakumar, 35, a father of three children and a resident of 1B, Murukan Koayil, Periya Neelaava’nai in Kalmunai.

Uthayakumar left to work in his repair garage in Maruthamunai Thursday morning, failed to return home, his wife, Thangamani Theresa, said.

The gang of men who came in the van had requested Uthaykumar to test run the van as there was some problem with it and when he climbed on to the driver seat, the five men too got into the van which then drove in the direction of Batticaloa town.
