Nominations for two provincial councils called

Nominations for the Sabragamuwa Provincial Council (SPC) and North Central Provincial Council (NCPC) will be accepted from June 27 to July 4. Nominations close on 12 noon on July 4, says the Commissioner of Elections in a gazette notification issued Friday midnight.

Elections to these provincial councils are expected to be ducted during the first week of August. 22 councilors would be elected to the NCPC and 29 to Sabragamuwa PC.

Meanwhile the main opposition United National Party (UNP) is likely to appoint Sajith Premadasa, son of late President R.Premadasa to lead election campaign on behalf of UNP in North Central Province and part National Organizer S.B.Dissanayake to Sabragamuwa Province. Sajith Premadasa is the Hambantota district parliamentarian.
