SLA shoots dead Tamil youth in Batticaloa

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Field bike unit troops shot and killed a Tamil youth Sunday around 5:45 p.m as he was riding on his motor cycle along Batticaloa-Kalmunai road in Kaaththaankudi police division in Batticaloa district, sources in Batticaloa said.

The victim was identified as Nithirasa Katheeskumar, a resident of Kalmunai, the police said.

The SLA troops following Katheeskumar on suspicion shot and killed him near the New Market in Kaaththaankudi.

Kalmunai police claimed that the victim was a member of Liberation Tigers of Eelam.

The body is kept at Batticaloa Teaching Hospital mortuary.

Kaaththaankudi is located 8 km south of Batticaloa town.
