3 Tamils abducted in Uddappu, released

Three Tamils including a woman abducted Friday by unidentified armed men in a white van at Uddappu, a Tamil village in Chilaw district, were released Sunday morning, Munthal police said. They were forcibly taken away from their houses by the armed men in the white van.

The released Tamils reported at Munthal Police Station soon after they arrived at Uddappu and gave statements.

They were taken to Colombo by the unidentified men and later released after being interrogated, they said in the statements.
