SLA beefs up deployment in Thenmaraadchi

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) in Thenmaraadchi in Jaffna has stepped up deployment after guerrilla attacks have targeted SLA's night patrols in the area in the recent days. There were two episodes of clashes reported in the past week alone in Manthuvil and Charasaalai.
The SLA did not release details of the clashes. Already, the SLA had reduced its night patrols after a number of attacks, and was relying upon fixed deployment during the nights. Search operations were stepped in addition to the increased number of posts manned by the SLA soldiers. Meanwhile due to the clashes in Forward Defence Lines ( FDL) , there has been frequent movement of military convoy ic and as a result all activities comes to a standstill after 2:00 p.m. Most government offices, business establishments and all schools in Chaavakachcheari are usually closed down by 2:00 p.m.
