Batticaloa woman molested in Trincomalee, 4 SL policemen remanded

A sergeant and three constables of the Sri Lanka Police were ordered remand till October 7 when they were produced before the Trincomalee Magistrate Tuesday evening on a complaint of rape of a young woman staying in a hotel at Nilave'li in Uppuve'li Police division in Trincomalee district, legal sources said.
The victim had come from Batticaloa to Trincomalee and had been staying in a hotel. The suspects had gone there and alleged to have raped the victim, according to complaints lodged with the Uppuve'li Police on Monday. The police took the suspects into custody and produced the woman before medial officer for examination. The suspects will be subjected to identification parade in court on the next date, legal sources said.
