Sixteen Sri Lankan Army (SLA) soldiers were injured this morning, when a tractor carrying troops ran off the road in Omanthai, Chavakachcheri Brigade Commander meets Divisional Secretaries and wounded civilian succumbs to injuries.
Sixteen soldiers injured in accidentSixteen SLA soldiers were injured this morning around 9, when a tractor carrying troops ran off the road in sector 8 in the Omanthai region of the Vanni. Sources said the tractor carrying the soldiers in the trailer was coming towards Omanthai when the vehicle ran off the road and met with an accident. Two of the wounded are serious. All the wounded were brought to Vavuniya hospital and transferred to Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura sources said one of the injured had been transferred to Colombo for further treatment.
Civilians must restrict their movementCivilians in the Chacakachcheri region should be asked to inform the nearest District Secretaries if anyone, who is not a permanent resident of the area, stays there, the Brigade Commander of the Sri Lankan Army in Chavakachcheri told the district secretaries at meeting held yesterday, January 27. He said civilians should also limit their movements late in the evenings.
Wounded civilian succumbs to injuriesMaamaangam Sivarajah, 43, who was wounded in the clash in Vavunathivu yesterday died at the Batticaloa hospital last night. He is a father of three children.
