Tamil student, teacher arrested in Aalangkea'ni, Trincomalee

A Tamil student sitting for the GCE Ordinary Level examination and a Tamil teacher assigned for examination duty in an examination centre located in Aalangkea'ni, a traditional Tamil village in Ki'n'niyaa DS division in Trincomalee district, were arrested by the police on December 8 and being detained in Trincomalee police station for interrogation, civil sources said.

Three students had been taken into custody in a search operation and two of them were released.

The third student now being detained had shown his admission card to sit for the GCE O/L examination to police. But, they refused to allow him to sit for the examination, sources said.
