Anonymous organization upbraids dailies in Jaffna peninsula

[TamilNet, Thursday, 05 February 2009, 01:23 GMT]
An anonymus organization, calling itself, ’Theasa Makkal Ezhuchchip Pearavai’ (Nation’s People’s Form of Uprisal’), called on the dailies of Jaffna peninsula to uphold journalistic moral instead of submitting themselves to be influenced by the culture of arms, in a fax message sent to the media in Jaffna Wednesday.

The message pointed out that the dailies in Jaffna peninsula had failed to give due place and prominence to the recent march held in Jaffna.

It is surprising to find Jaffna dailies falling behind in reporting the endless sufferings of the people in Vanni while the Tamil society and many others in the world express their sympathy and support to them, the message said.

Though profit is the motive of private news papers they are morally bound to guide the people to escape from the clutches of undemocratic forces by promoting discussion among the people, the message further said.

It is the moral duty of the dailies in Jaffna peninsula to urge the people to help liberate the people from the atrocities of war and to regain their lost political rights, the message said.
