Five more casualties from sea battle

The Liberation Tigers announced in the Vanni today the names of 5 more Tigers who had died in the sea battle with the Sri Lankan Navy (SLN) near the island of Kachchathivu, north west of Jaffna on February 8.

They are:

Lt.Col. Neelan (Sivalingam Sugaskaran of Trincomalee)
Major Sinthanaichelvan (Francis Xavier Francis John of Jaffna)
Major Isaiventhan (Sosayappu Croos Amaranth Croos of Mannar)
Major Kumaran (Kanagasingam Jeyarooban of Jaffna)
Major Neriyan (Nadarajah Yogeswaran of Jaffna)

LTTE had earlier revealed the names of 13 members of who had died in this clash.

The Liberation Tigers also said that one member, Puratchipalan (Uruthiramoorthy Kirubanantharasa of Trincomalee), died in a confrontation with the Sri Lankan Army at Ampakaamam, in the Vanni on February 9.

Meanwhile the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence said that troops operating in the forward defences at Nedunkerni had sniped and killed a member of the Liberation Tiger yesterday around 11.30 a.m.

It further said two SLA soldiers were wounded when Tigers fired mortars at the troops manning the forward defences at Oddusuddan yesterday around 6 p.m.
