SLA artillery kills three civilians in Mullaithivu and four persons are arrested in Jaffna.
SLA artillery kills civiliansThree civilians were killed this morning around 7.30 a.m at Paandiyankulam in the Mullaithivu district, when the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) fired artillery shells from its positions in Mankulam, said sources in Vanni. They said SLA fired artillery shells towards the residential areas of Paandiyankulam from 7.15 a.m today. The shelling went on for several hours, they added. Large number of civilians have moved to safer areas, sources said.
SLA arrests four in JaffnaThe SLA arrested four persons in Jaffna yesterday and on Thursday. Two fishermen from Paashiyoor, Bastiampillai Jacob, 60 and Anthonypillai Fernando, 45, were arrested on Thursday March 4. Yesterday the army arrestsd Jesudasan kilber Nixon , 27, of Mount Carmel Street in Kurunagar. On Thursday the SLA also took into custody Thiyagaraja Kuhathasan, 27, from his residence on Seenivasakam Street at Kottady in Jaffna town. The four are being held at the KKS detention center in the Palaly Military base complex.
