Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) leader Rauf Hakim accused the Government Saturday regarding the re-registration of Muslim Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) voters in Puththa’lam and using IDP camp officers in Puththa’lam district for political purposes.
Speaking to Daily Mirror regarding IDP voters in Puththa’lam who are eligible to vote in the forthcoming Jaffna Municipal Council (JMC) election, Mr. Hakeem said a Government Minister has appointed several camp officers as election officers. He added that the government was attempting to rig the election and warned that the SLMC is vigilant of the activities of Government Ministers. Responding to a question on SLMC’s stance regarding the forthcoming election to the Jaffna municipal council, he said several parties had sought his party’s support. “We will advise the voters so as to understand the concerned issues and vote according to their conscience”, he said.
