More Batticaloa IDP families released for resettlement in their villages

Fifty-one Internally Displaced Persons of eighteen families held in camps in
Jaffna district were sent to Batticaloa Thursday by three state sector
buses thorough A9 road. They are now given shelter in Batticaloa
Sinhala Maha Vidiyalayam. They would be resettled in their villages in
the district after screening by armed forces and police
intelligence unit, sources in Batticaloa said.
Meanwhile, another batch of 46 members of 16 Batticaloa IDP families
detained in Vavuniyaa camps left Vavuniyaa in state sector buses
Thursday evening for resettlement in the villages in the east, sources
said. From August 10 till Thursday 2398 members of 863 Batticaloa IDP
families detained in Vavuniyaa camps were sent back for resettlement
in their villages in the district.
