Gunmen abduct Red Cross driver

Unidentified gunmen abducted Naakamani Deivendranathan, 36, a driver with the Vavuniya branch of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRC), last night around 11 p.m. said Police sources in the northern border town.
Naakamani's abductors had come in a white van to his residence at Pattaanichchi Puliyankulam, a suburb two kilometers west of Vavuniya town. They had told the dirver's family that he was being taken for questioning. His family said today that they are still unable to find out who his captors are or where he is being held. Pattaanichchi Puliyankulam is in the high security zone of Vavuniya town and its environs by the road to Mannar. The Vavuniya SLRC has contacted the SLA, the Police and the Government Agent about the driver's abduction sources said .
