LTTE FDLs captured - MoD

A statement issued by the Operational Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that Sri Lanka Army soldiers involved in 'Operation Rana Gossa III' have captured heavily fortified LTTE defence lines (FDL) south east of Periyamadhu yesterday.

The statement said that 19 Liberation Tigers were killed in the confrontations and a large number are believed have been wounded.

It further said the SLA recovered 7 dead bodies of the LTTE along with 12-T56 riffles, 21 magazines and 33 hand grenades.

Twelve SLA soldiers were killed and 37 were wounded in the operation, said the MoD.

A search operation continues in the area, the MoD statement said.
