VOT anniversary

The seventh anniversary celebration of the Voice of Tiger (VOT) broadcast began last evening in the Mulliawalai Viththiyananda school in Mullaithivu at 4 p.m. and concluded in the early hours of the morning today around 4 a.m.

The VOT chief Thamil Anpan presided.

The VOT announced in its morning news bulletin today that LTTE political wing leader Thamil Chelvan, his deputy Vithuran, the political wing leader of Batticaloa, Thurai, the head of the LTTE's photography unit, Nilavan and Miresh, the chief of Nitharsanam, the organisation's video unit, were present on the occasion and had distributed awards and prizes.

Mr. Balakumar, formerly leader of the EROS had presented an assessment of the VOT's performance since 1990.

The LTTE's cultural wing leader, the poet Puthuvai Rathinathurai also spoke, the radio said.
