Following a report about two missing persons made by Batticaloa MP, P.Selvarajah to the police, the Sri Lankan Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recorded a statement from him today, said police sources.
The MP had informed the police that two civilians,Poopalappillai Thiyagarajah and Ilayathamby Nakarajah, have been missing since January this year. Mr. P.Selvarajah said he was questioned by the CID for almost 90 minutes. Meanwhile, the court hearing into the death of a schoolboy, Sanjeevan, from Paandiruppu was postponed to August 19, as the report from the forensic analyst in Colombo had not been submitted as yet. Sanjeevan was allegedly tortured to death by the police, after being arrested by officers in Kalmunai on October 13 last year. His body was exhumed on November 27 and a post mortem carried out, said court sources.
