Two years after the end of the war, Tamils in the North and East are still living under the yoke of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), said Batticaloa District Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian Mr.P.Ariyanenthran. "Colombo government and its supporters are saying that the peace has returned with the end of the three decade old war.
Sinhala Government in power, using the military, is suppressing the rights and freedom of Tamils in the North and East. True peace would prevail only after a lasting political solution to Tamil question is found. The TNA has been participating in the talks with the Colombo government with open heart to find a durable political solution," Ariyanenthiran said. Ariyanenthiran reminded that in past Sinhalese governments in Colombo had abrogated several pacts entered into with Tamil leaders to find a political solution to Tamil question.
