The genocidal army and militarized infrastructure of Rajapaksa regime proves its ‘capability’ in intimidating people in the island to put 1 million signatures within 10 days against the UN Expert Panel report. According to Sri Lankan state-owned media on Wednesday the vehicles, which are transporting the petition with letters against the UN report are now returning to Colombo, after which, the government will hand over the petition to the UN.
The signatures were obtained from the length and width of the island, including the north, covering civilians from Jaffna, Poonakari and Mullaiththeevu and also other areas such as Ampaa'rai, Monaragala, Galle, Matara, the Dinamina newspaper said. Earlier news reports from the island were giving a graphic picture of how the signatures were obtained by the SL military and thugs of the Rajapaksa regime, led by its ministers. For example, a group of thugs brought from the South by the SL Military Intelligence dragged a reputed catholic priest in Jaffna Rev. Fr. Maria Xavier out of his institution and intimidated him to put his signature.
