Six Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were wounded when a grenade exploded in their vehicle this morning. The soldiers were travelling in a tractor in the general area of Nedunkerni area, 33 km. east of Mankulam, sources said.

SLA sources, however, said that it is not yet confirmed whether the grenade was lobbed by the Liberation Tigers or was being carried by an SLA soldier.

"Inquiries are being held into the incident to find out the details of the incident" sources added.

The wounded soldiers have been admitted to Anuradhapura hospital.
