The All Ceylon Young Hindu Federation has requested the Minister of Education and Higher Education and the north western provincial council administration to appoint a Hindu principal to the Kurunegala Hindu Maha Vidyalayam.
At present a Buddhist is functioning as the Principal in the Kurunegala Hindu MahaVidyalayam. Kurunegala is an important town in the north western province, on Colombo-Kandy road. When a deputation of the All Ceylon Young Hindu Federation led by its general secretary S.Sivapathasuntharam recently visited Kurunegala, Hindu residents there brought to the notice that a Buddhist principal was running the administration of the Hindu Maha Vidyalayam. Several Hindu residents expressed that the welfare of their children were not properly looked after by the school administration. Now, the general secretary of the All Ceylon Young Hindu Federation, Mr. Sivapathasuntharam has written to the Minister of Education and Higher Education to appoint a Hindu principal to the school. He has also sent a letter to the provincial minister of education requesting him to transfer the Buddhist principal from the Hindu MahaVidyalayam, Kurunegala.
