Colonial governor diverts more education funds to Sinhala colonisation in North

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 29 January 2013, 22:44 GMT]
Colombo’s colonial governor in North and the former Jaffna commander of the occupying SL military in Jaffna, Maj Gen (retd) GA Chandrasiri, has again diverted a major portion of the funds, allocated for education and health sectors in the five districts in the Northern Province, to the newly carved out Ma'nalaa'rau (Weli-Oaya) Sinhala division in Mullaiththeevu district for the construction of 72 new Sinhala schools and health stations as part of a hurried expansion of the Sinhala colonisation scheme, informed sources in Vanni told TamilNet on Wednesday. To facilitate the accelerated occupation, contractors hired from South are working day and night, putting up the schools and health stations, the sources further said.

The SL authorities that are distributing land permits to a number of families, ranging between 2,500 to 3,000 from South as occupants of new family units of the Sinhala division. The settlers would be clearing more jungles and they would be first deployed in slash-and-burn form of agriculture.

While the Tamil schools of war-ravaged Vanni are languishing without proper shelter and other resources, Sinhala schools are not only mushrooming in Sinhalicised Ma’nal-Aa’ru (Weli Oya), but also in other parts in the North, as reported earlier with documentary evidence in December 2012.

Out of the 400 million allotted for the construction or renovation of schools in the North in November last year, 193 million went to 29 Sinhala-Buddhist schools in the recent colonies, 115 million went to 12 Muslim schools, while only a single Tamil school received 11 million and a Roman Catholic school was given 5 million.

But, within a few weeks, the SL governor has come up with the expansion, distributing land permits to 2,500 to 3,000 new units of Sinhala occupants, who would deploy slash-and-burn mode of agriculture to clear the jungle.

In a recent meeting, Mr Chandrasri told officials of Northern Provincial Council that there would be further cuts in the funding allocated to education and health sector.

The funds have now been diverted to set up 72 more schools for the expanding Sinhala colonization scheme in Mullaiththeevu district.

Most of these new Sinhala schools have students numbering below ten in total, informed sources say.

These schools are being hurriedly constructed to attract settlers from South.

As part of its ongoing structural genocide being committed on Eezham Tamils, the Sri Lankan government under Rajapaksa aims to complete the Sinhalicisation of the Tamil country before year 2020.

Colombo's structural genocide committed on the nation of Eezham Tamils, is facilitated by all the three Establishments, in Washington, New Delhi and Beijing, that are engaged in the geopolitical game over the island for decades.

Neither New Delhi nor Washington is prepared to talk to Tamils on colonisation, territoriality and structural genocide. There is not even a single step undertaken by them that practically stopped the territorial annihilation of Eezham Tamils. When such is the attitude, what is the point in Tamil representatives going behind the two powers to discus secondary manifestations such as the day to day atrocities of the occupying SL military and the question of the ‘rule-of-Law’ in a State which cares only for genocidal integration, ask alternative Tamil political activists in the island.
