TELO sulks over lost contract

Unidentified men believed to be members of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO) smashed up the office of the Divisional Secretary's (DS) at Aariyampathi in Batticaloa last night, sources said.
The Divisional Secretary, Mr. M.Uthyakumar, has made an entry with the Kattankudy police. The TELO cadres reacted in this manner because they were not given a contract, said sources in the area. Meanwhile a transformer was blasted on Tuesday (20.07.1999) around midnight at Parathipuram, 2 km off Muttur town in the Trincomalee district, security sources said. The Ceylon Electricity Board officials estimated the damage at about 600,000 rupees SLA sources blamed the Tigers for the blast. The village in Parathipuram is in the army controlled area of Muttur.
