The body of Ida Hamilitta, a Tamil woman who was allegedly raped and killed by Sri Lankan Army soldiers, on July 11 at Pallimunai, was taken to Colombo this afternoon by a CID team for further investigation.

The CID officials also took 11 weapons that were used by the eleven soldiers who were on duty on the night of the incident, Mannar court sources said.

The body of the young woman was exhumed today by the Mannar Police on the orders of the District Magistrate, M.Ilancheliyan, for further post-mortem and analytical investigations.

The Magistrate made the special order for exhumation of the body on an application made by Mr.Arif, A.S.P., head of the special CID team appointed by the Police to investigate into the case.

The two suspects who were identified from among 80 soldiers, were sent to Anuradhapura for remand until August 3 on the orders of the courts, sources added.
